Before anything else… we were water. Held, protected, cradled in the unseen.
This is how life begins. This is how motherhood begins. In the waiting. In the silence. In loving before being able to see.
During my pregnancy, everything was connection. I spoke to her, I wrote to her, I gave her a name as soon as I could, because to me she was already here. If I was cooking, I spoke to her. If I was walking, I spoke to her. If I was in silence, I still did. And in the middle of it all, that feeling impossible to explain: longing to see her, to smell her, to hold her. On the other side of the skin, I was waiting for her.
And when she arrived, I understood something that changed me forever. That holding life is not about control, it is about care. It is about presence. It is about learning to feel. I remember sleepless nights, thinking about the responsibility, the fear, everything I could not control. Until I understood: our children are not ours. They are entrusted to us. And there, I learned to trust. To let go, without ever stopping to hold.
To me, motherhood is sacred. It is holding a light that is not yours, but moves through you. And maybe that’s why today I see the skin differently. The skin also holds memory. It responds to how it is touched, how it is held, the presence with which it is cared for. Like water in the womb, it does not force, yet it nourishes. It does not invade, yet it sustains life.
This is what I share today. A way of caring that is born not from technique, but from awareness. From touch. From respect for what each body is and what it is going through. Today I honor every woman who has waited, who has loved without seeing, who has held life in silence.
Because all of us, in some way, have been on the other side of the skin.
Happy Mother’s Day
