Not long ago, I shared an article about what it means to experience a Waxing Beyond the Skin. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that waxing is about much more than removing hair.
Many people feel they are not only letting go of unwanted hair, but also leaving behind small insecurities, old beliefs, and moments that have already served their purpose. In many ways, each appointment becomes the beginning of a new cycle, where caring for the skin can also reflect the start of a new chapter.
These are some of the lessons that experience has taught me:
Consistency Transforms Results
Consistency is one of the most important keys to successful waxing. Over the years, I’ve seen hair growth gradually diminish and skin become softer and smoother when clients maintain their appointments every three to four weeks.
The time between appointments makes a significant difference. When hair grows too long, removal can be more uncomfortable. When clients follow a consistent schedule, the experience tends to be gentler, more efficient, and progressively more comfortable. Although hair grows in different phases, regular waxing helps maintain healthier growth cycles and contributes to a gradual reduction in the amount, thickness, and texture of the hair.
At Green Wave, we believe every waxing service should be detailed, meticulous, and performed with care. Consistency doesn’t replace technique—it enhances it.
Your Skin Is Always Talking: You Just Have to Learn How to Listen
The skin is a living organ that tells us a great deal about what’s happening inside the body. It reflects hydration, sensitivity, irritation, hormonal changes, nutrition, stress, and daily habits.
From a client’s perspective, if shaving causes irritation, makes the hair feel coarser, leaves the skin rough, or contributes to dryness or dehydration, waxing can be an excellent alternative. At the same time, it’s important to understand that waxing isn’t necessarily the right choice for everyone or for every situation.
From a specialist’s perspective, learning to read the skin before every service is essential. The skin may need preparation, exfoliation, hydration, or extra protection. And sometimes, the most professional decision is to postpone the service and not perform waxing that day.
Hormones Tell a Story Too
Hair growth changes throughout life.
I’ve seen clients who, before the age of 40, had virtually no hair in certain areas and later began noticing growth on the face, buttocks, abdomen, or around the nipples.
At the same time, areas such as the bikini, underarms, or legs may gradually require less maintenance after years of consistent waxing.
Our bodies evolve, hormones change, and our skin reflects every new chapter.
That’s why it’s important to understand that hair growth isn’t always predictable. It can change during adolescence, pregnancy, menopause, hormonal conditions, or simply as part of the natural aging process.
Trust Is Part of Every Appointment
One of the things I value most about waxing is the trust our clients place in us.
Many arrive not knowing us at all, yet they entrust us with their care while in a physically and emotionally vulnerable position.
They allow us into their personal space. They share stories, insecurities, milestones, and deeply personal moments.
That trust is something sacred, and it deserves to be honored with the utmost respect.
For me, waxing has never been only about technique.
It’s also about presence, respect, compassion, and genuine human connection.
Clients naturally seem to connect with the specialist whose personality best matches their own.
The quieter clients often feel most comfortable with calm, reserved specialists. More outgoing clients tend to gravitate toward energetic, expressive personalities.
I’ve seen this happen so consistently that it almost feels mathematical.
To me, it’s another reminder that waxing is about far more than removing hair.
It’s about creating an experience where every person feels comfortable, cared for, understood, and safe.
